About Our Congregation

Confessional Lutheran Identity

Since 1920, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church has faithfully served the Pomona community for more than a century. We are a confessional Lutheran congregation. We believe, teach, and confess that the Holy Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God and the only source and norm of Christian doctrine and practice. We subscribe to the Lutheran Confessions as contained in the Book of Concord of 1580 because they are a correct exposition of the Word of God.

"For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified." — 1 Corinthians 2:2

Statement on Holy Scripture

We believe that the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God, given by inspiration of the Holy Spirit. They are the only rule and norm of faith and life. Through the Word of God, the Holy Spirit works to create and sustain faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

"God is Love."- 1 John 4:8

LCMS Affiliation

St. Paul's is a member congregation of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). As part of this church body, we are united with thousands of other congregations in a common confession of faith and a shared mission to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all nations.

Mission Statement

"The mission of St. Paul Lutheran Church is to faithfully proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ through the pure preaching of the Word and the right administration of the Sacraments, that all may come to the knowledge of the truth and be saved."
