Worship & the Divine Service

The Divine Service is the heart of our life together as a congregation. In this service we receive God’s gifts through His Word and Sacraments as we gather in prayer, Scripture, sermon, and song.

Welcome, Visitors

Visitors are always welcome to join us. If you are new to the Lutheran Church or have questions about the service, our pastor and members would be happy to help.

Description of the Divine Service

Our worship is centered on the "Divine Service"—the historic liturgy of the Christian Church. In the Divine Service, God comes to us with His gifts of forgiveness, life, and salvation through His Word and Sacraments. We use the Lutheran Service Book (LSB) and follow the traditional lectionary. Our worship is reverent, dignified, and focused entirely on the work of Christ for us.

Communion Practice

The Lord's Supper is celebrated at every Sunday Divine Service. We believe that in the bread and wine, we receive the very body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of our sins. Because Holy Communion is a confession of the faith which is confessed at this altar, we practice "Close Communion." Visitors who are not members of an LCMS congregation are kindly asked to speak with the Pastor before communing.

What Visitors Should Expect

When you visit St. Paul‘s, you will find a warm welcome and a service that is rich in Scripture and tradition. You will hear the Law of God which convicts us of our sin, and the sweet Gospel of Jesus Christ which announces the free forgiveness of all our sins for His sake. We sing the great hymns of the Church, accompanied by our pipe organ, and participate in the historic responses of the liturgy.
